It’s easy to treat each day the same, trying to be a super productive machine but trust me when I say you need to stop. A stressful lifestyle will ultimately cause a reduced life expectancy so enough is enough. We've put together 7 ways to build healthy habits into your lifestyle no matter how busy you are.

1. BE POSITIVE

Starting every day with a positive thought can have a big impact on your life. Reading a positive affirmation works because it creates positive thoughts & feelings in your mind. These thoughts & feelings lead on to create positive behaviours & if you’re doing positive things you’ll end up with positive results. These results then re-inforce your belief in the system, it’s a self-perpetuating cycle & it an be life-changing.  A similar mind-set is learning to live gratefully, write down three things you are grateful for each morning. 2. MEDITATE

When you wake up in the morning sit yourself up in bed and give yourself 10 minutes. Use this important time to be calm & mindful which will help get rid of stress on the body, it will also increases self-awareness and make you feel calmer overall.  This morning routine will help set you up for a more productive & positive day.

3. HOT WATER & LEMON

The majority of foods we consume in our diet are highly acidic which can lead to an imbalance in our digestive system. When lemons are digested by our body they turn from being acidic to being alkaline and help to neutralize acid and restore balance. Start your day with a cup of hot water & lemon.

4. YOGA

The benefits of yoga are likely to far exceed your expectations, no wonder it’s been practiced for over 5000 years. It can have a game-changing effect on your life by helping to connect your mind with your body & taking you away from the stresses of life. Medical professionals will argue that one of the biggest killers right now is stress, combating it could actually save your life.

5. READ YOUR BODY

It’s important to understand that each & everyone of us are unique & our bodies need slightly different diets to function at our best. When it comes to the foods you eat you must try to tune in & listen to your body to understand what works for you.  Make a food diary showing what you ate & how it made you feel afterwards then review it at the end of the week.

6. SLEEP

I don’t need to tell you that sleep is important but a lack of it causes you to crave food & snack more, but even if you’re in control of your diet you are still at a disadvantage. A study from Chicago University found that dieters who slept 8.5 hours lost more fat than when they slept for only  5.5 hours even though they were eating the same diet. You need at least 7 hours per night with no excuses, ditch TV & mobiles just before bed and stick to a bedtime routine for a slimming, restful night’s sleep.

7. TIME OUT

Make sure you take time out to do something for yourself, even if it's absolutely nothing. Giving yourself time to read, take a walk or even draw can significantly reduce stress on your body and do wonders for your wellbeing.  A more relaxed & calm state-of-mind  will make you far more focused & productive so taking time out will mean getting more done during the rest of your day.
